A Great Weekend

So this weekend Brett and I traveled up to visit his parents in Mechanicsville, VA. Hanover Evangelical Friends Church (HEFC), where Brett's dad is the pastor, was having a huge celebration for their new building. Just recently, the day care as well as youth moved into an amazing new wing of the Church. On Saturday, there was a huge carnival which included many games for kids, a petting zoo, inflatables, and a guided tour of the new facility. It was a beautiful sunny day! Couldn't have asked for anything more wonderful!

We even took Cali to see the kids for a little while. She's never been around children. She became another part of the petting zoo - kids were walking up left and right to pet her. She did great! She licked all over the kids - my apologies to their parents!

We enjoyed a spaghetti dinner after the carnival as well as a comedy show. It was a long day full of lots of excitement! The next morning, they planted a dogwood tree to commemorate all that God has done and will continue to do. One of the things that I love about HEFC is the passion to bridge the gap between all ages. They cherish the elders just as much as the beautiful children. Each person holds a special purpose! There was an amazing dedication service on Sunday morning! It was one of those services that you just don't want to end.... it felt like you could go on praising and singing for hours! David's sermon was touching as well!

After church we enjoyed some low-key quality time with David and Desiree. They found a trendy little place in Richmond called Zuppa. Such a great sandwich, soup, and salad place!!! I highly recommend it!

The older that Brett and I become, the more that we appreciate everything about our parents! Through the good and bad times, our parents have sought the Lord and loved one another with a deep passion! We hope that we will be able to do the same in the future!
