Well...it's about time we posted. I was also getting tired of the plain green that we had as our background and had some free time tonight, so I decided to give us a new look.
I could go on and on about reasons why we've been too busy to blog lately, but there will always be people who are busier and yet more faithful to blog. I guess it's just not our top priority...or should I say, it probably doesn't even make the top 10 these days!
So rather than bore you with a super long list of everything that we've done in the past weeks (oops...months!), we'll just give a few quick updates.
We spent Mother's Day and Father's Day with Jes' family. Jes' sister, Amanda, and her husband, Nate came to Asheboro for each of the days, so we were able to be with the whole family. It's been great to spend a little extra time with them over the past while as they are getting ready to move to Hong Kong in August. They will be teaching there for the next 2 years.
At the beginning of June, we went to Cherry Grove Beach in South Carolina for a few days with my (Brett's) family. My parents drove down from VA and Patrick, Jana and Hannah flew over from Alabama. Hannah is now 10 months old and is walking. She was a lot of fun! This was the first time the whole family had been together since Thanksgiving, so it was really great to spend some quality time together. My parents were also celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary while we were together. I have decided that being a good, dedicated spouse is the best gift a parent can give their children. Jes and I are extremely blessed to both have parents that have set such an amazing example of what marriage should be.
This week has been crazy. Jes' sister, Amanda, was in a car accident earlier in the week, so we drove over to Durham to be with them. She injured her right arm, wrist and hand. She had surgery today, and will most likely have a painful few days and hard weeks of recovery ahead. We are praying that there will be minimal long-term effects and that she will heal quickly. We will drive over tomorrow to see her, as well as pick up a few things that we are buying from them before they move.
Visit our Flickr site to see pictures from our beach trip and other things from the past several months.
Hopefully we'll be motivated by the new look to update more frequently!
