This year for Valentine's Day we decided to cook at home and re-make a meal that we had at the cooking class that we had in DC last February. Ironically, the only part that we didn't make of the meal last year (braised lamb shanks) is the part that we made this year. We had a great time!
Here's a quick picture of the flowers that Brett bought for me!
The menu - Indian Spiced Braised Lamb Shanks with couscous and arugula salad with a special vinaigrette. It was time to start the meal and I was working on mixing the spices for the lamb.
We had never cooked lamb before this night, so it was a whole new experience. We started out by browning the cleaned meat.
Brett was in charge of pulling everything together in the pan... onions first.
After making an incredible sauce which included nuts, raisins, ginger, garlic, tomatoes, and lots of spices... we poured this mixture over the lamb and prepared the pan to cook in the oven for hours.
The final product looked and smelled like a million dollars! We were so excited!
For dessert, we made a grilled chocolate sandwich... courtesy of Martha Stewart's book "Great Food Fast." It was a winner!!!
