Wow! It is hard to believe that we only have 11 days until we will finally meet and hold our baby boy. Words fail to express all that we are experiencing, enjoying, thinking and feeling right now. We are so thankful and are filled with tremendous love for Isaac.
We have been nesting and making final preparations for his wonderful arrival. The nursery is finished, his clothes/sheets/towels are clean, the car seat is ready to go. Who knew that it could be so exciting to receive a diaper bag in the mail as well as some other surprises that people have generously sent us? We are so blessed by the generosity of those around us!
We have also taken care of some tasks around our house. We've done a lot of work in our yard so we can check that off the list for another year or so. Also we cleaned the outdoor furniture, cleaned and organized the house, prepared our guest room, and we had some painters come and paint over the horrible gold paint in our stairwell that we've despised for the last 5 years. Why did it take expecting a baby to make the gold disappear? I'm not sure... I guess it's similar to when we had our house on the market. We updated some things so that it would be ready for open houses and in the end we liked it more than we ever had before and thought to ourselves... why in the world did we wait until now to do this?
We've also purchased a chest freezer. I love it! We've been filling it with extra meals for us and for Cali. For those of you that don't remember, our lovable 4-year-old labradoodle Cali has horrible food allergies. However, with our homemade food, she's been basically symptom free for almost 1.5 years. We are also super thankful that after some severe bouts with colitis last year, she has been incredibly healthy over the last 5 months and counting. The vets didn't think anything else could be done to prevent the colitis. Then Brett and I researched an inexpensive medicine, usually given to farm animals. Anyway, it turns out that the medicine (tylosin) has completely cleared up her sensitive g/i tract. She is in amazing health and ready to become Isaac's best friend.
We are very pleased with the preparations we've made to our home and thankful that Cali is doing so well. This will help us to be less stressed in the coming months.
Needless to say, we're looking forward to the big day!
