Main Street South

On Friday night my parents drove up to Randleman and we went to a new restaurant. Main Street South is a steakhouse. It was very exciting to go to a new restaurant, because there aren't that many in Randleman. Although, the few that we have are really good - Las Trancas, Sopranos, and Sir Pizza to name a few.

Usually, I am not much of a steak person, but why not try their specialty? My mom and I both got 6 oz. sirloins which came with a side and a salad. The steaks were mouth-watering. They were not loaded with spices or dripping in butter from where it was cooked on the grill, it was just perfectly seared, tender, and juicy steak. Dad had a salmon dish and Brett ordered a pasta dish. They were also very pleased.

They had the few classic dessert selections: molten cake (similar to chili's and other chains), cheesecake, and Granny's classic cake. We split a molten cake and Granny's cake (warmed white cake with a chocolate fudge sauce on top - the cake is spooned onto the plate and then garnished with vanilla ice cream). Both were amazing! The manager came over and spoke with us for a few minutes - we learned that Granny's cake has been a huge hit for them, and that it really is his grandmother's recipe. She is the one that makes the huge pans of the homemade recipe to serve the restaurant. I always love hearing the stories behind the food!

Needless to say, dinner was great, and the company was even better! We always have a fun time getting to catch up with my parents. They are currently re-decorating their kitchen, so we throw around lots of different design ideas. It is like our own HGTV show that we are getting to watch - but not live with the mess of renovations!
